Current mood: sleepy
Category: Travel and Places
Okay,

So I was so distracted by crappy Craigslist passenger I didn't take too many pictures heading south.

Cause I was speeding the whole time....

As in, "Yep, caribou! Cool!" Zoom.........

No stopping unless we needed gas or I absolutely had to pee or sleep.

But here are the ones I did take.....

Did I mention I wasn't happy to leave Seward. Yep, that's me looking pretty sad. I also had just spent a couple hours packing and tarping the trailer and I had just showered....so I still had wet hair.

I spent the evening in Anchorage visiting with Kate, John, Chad and Dee Dee....Skagway friends who ended up getting married (not all four to each other) and moving to Anchorage. I left early the next day for the Glenn Highway towards Tok.

The clouds on the Glenn were spectacular!

Matanuska Glacier

Northern Yukon Territory

You all know about the signpost forest in Watson Lake, YT, well maybe you remember that last year my mom flew up and roadtripped down to Wisconsin with me. Along the way we stopped and added the sign my grandpa made....so I stopped and carved '2007' into the sign. Going to make an effort to stop, carve and photo every time I go by.

So seriously, I did not take any...ANY....more photos until ND. That's how badly I wanted to ditch my passenger. I fantasized about leaving him at gas stations the whole way.

The last picture I took is of North Dakota.....cause it's so damned flat!

That's it.

Well, I just upgraded my camera last night and it should arrive early next week.

I promise to take a bunch of beautiful fall in Wisconsin pictures with my fancy new camera and to post them here.

Just wanna keep my readers enthralled!!!

Love you all! S.

Current mood: happy
10. Rider has to argue about campsites. Say's brilliant things like: "Park next to those two cars for sale. We can camp there." Cause a truck with two dogs and WI plates will blend right into a lot with BC cars in it? Huh?

9. Upon waking up from campsite (found one, not next to cars for sale), when asked 'How did you sleep' responds, "Good enough. I guess." Well, good morning to you too Mr. Negative pants!

8. Rider disbelieves everything you say just because he's never heard of it. Expresses disbelief by yelling 'what.' Not just 'what!', but 'wwwWWWHHHAAAAATTTT!' in an screeching voice rising in volume. Rider also says, "I don't really care for cursing." Then proceeds to say "Shit!" about everything.....everything.

7. Rider doesn't ask to stop to use the bathroom, but says, "Can we stop? I have to use the toilet!" Toilet? You're not my friend....say bathroom. Toilet is reserved for people I'm comfortable with....

6. Rider than uses 'toilet' only to come out and say (about the east indians leaving the facilities), "Stupid Indian pigs, pissing all over the toilet! I mean I'm not a racist, but". At this point I decline to listen further.

5. Rider says things like, "I used to like Pam Anderson. I mean, Kid Rock? I don't know, he's pretty much a shaved monkey!" As if this guy ever had a chance....oddly enough he's 55 and still single.

4. Rider talks about travelling around the world, only all his stories are suspect. Mostly because everytime the town he was in has 99 people...as in, "I once was on this island in the south Pacific, I think there were 99 people living there..." or "I went to this village in Germany, it only had 99 people..."

3. Rider packs like he's never travelled ANYWHERE. As in, does not carry a sleeping pad, but carries a $40 WalMart tent and a bag full of tapes. Tapes...and a Walkman.

2. Rider freaks out about said Walkman when it stops working. Begins yelling "Shit! Goddamn it! Shit! Piece of shit! I can't believe it doesn't work!" Rider does not take it well when you mention perhaps it is normal for a 25 year old, second hand store tape deck to stop working. Rider then proceeds to hassle you to stop at every secondhand store so he can look for a new Walkman. You refuse. Rider is again not happy.

1. Rider is this guy:

Current mood: anxious
So anyway,

I went to the Kenai Peninsula State Fair in Ninilchik. Yea, it was like a month ago. But whatever, I'm putting the pictures up now.

Some of you know the story I'm not posting here......

Greasy, but nice Alaska guy.

Turned out he liked me more than I anticipated.....

and he had a crackhead girlfriend. And I'm not using crackhead as a descriptive generalization. She is a crackhead.

Anyway, my favorite part of any fair is the rodeo.

Here's why:

Ranch animals KICKIN ASS!

Seriously, what could be better than watching horses and cattle hand it to the man (or kid or woman).....

The kid's were pretty funny....most made it about .5 seconds. Probably cause they were all 6 years old.

I mean look....

I think, as a parent, you should feel pretty concerned for your kids well being if he's making this face.

More kid's getting beat up....

This guys buddies are pretty concerned....where are his parents!

Then the adults.........

Yee Haw!! 10 gallon in the air!

Then there's the barrel races...pretty fun to watch too. Those girls are fast!

Anyhow...there are my rodeo picture.

I'm about to head to WI, so I'm sure there'll be some roadtrip pics to post in the next two weeks........

See ya!

Current mood: depressed
So, I'm pretty much writing cause I'm pretty damned sad right now....and I need to tell someone....

Everyone's leaving....cause it's September and time to leave.

I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE!!!! (sob!)

I don't want to leave.
I don't want to leave.

I

don't

want

to

leave.

I want to stay.

I want to see the season end....

to have great plans for the next six weeks of vacation....

and to return to my AK home for the winter.

Next year.

Brett, Peterman and I are the last left. Everyone else left yesterday and Cody left this morning...

And now it's pissing down rain, I'm sitting in this office alone listening to Cody's depressing alt-country mix on his work computer (damn it Cody, couldn't you have put ONE happy song in the mix???) and I'm so damned sad.

Mom, dad....family and friends. Better start making plans to visit me in AK, cause I don't think I can hang with living in the lower 48 for more than this upcoming year.

See you all soon....
