So, last week I finally began my travels back north. For those of you who don't know, after several summers living in SE AK, I took last summer off to hang with the family in Wisconsin. This year I have taken a job in the Kenai Penninsula. To get there, I opted to drive to Bellingham, WA and ferry to Juneau to visit my friend Keith, whom I haven't seen in more than a year. I am currently in Juneau, but will be catching the ferry to Haines in the next day or so, and then driving to Anchorage for a short stop to see friends before heading down the penninsula.So. I have some pictures to share, as usual. Following are the pictures from one long, sleepy trip.

The first night, the sunset on the Juan de Fuca Strait was beautiful, as it always is....

Reminds me of a volcano, this is somewhere near Klemtu, BC.

BC coastal lighthouse

BC Coast Guard cutter

The ferry docked in Ketchikan, AK

Nearing Wrangell, AK

Yes, there is a bar on the ferry. It is covered in red velvet, and velvet paintings of Elvis, and is fantastically ghetto.

Current mood: giddy

Well, here are some photos from the last few days in Juneau. These photos are from the outer edge of Douglas Island, near Fritz Bay. These eagles were feeding on whatever that is laying on the rocks. If anyone can figure out which sea creature these remains belong to, I'd be curious to know.

There were maybe a dozen eagles flying around...they were obsessed.

This photo is possibly the greatest wildlife photo I will ever take. Ever.

Here is a cropped, closer view.

The following day, I went to Mendehall Glacier. The glacier has very easy access, and the clouds helped to bring out the blue in the ice.

Miles is training Charlie how to respond when off of the leash.

This is the view of Mendenhall from across Fritz Bay.

So, most of my Silverton pics are of the town and the surrounding area. We didn't have much time to take shots while skiing....I'm hoping KT has a few shots. If I get them, I will post them.

This shot is the ticket line on the first day (ever) that Silverton opened to unguided skiing. There were about 330 tickets sold that day, making for the biggest skier day Silverton Mtn had ever seen.

So, I'm back tracking a bit, but I am going to start with photos from the infamous St Pattys kegger. Hopefully there are more to come, once I can get people to kick down the photos they shot....

Uh, Jamon's wasted. Check out the pupils!

A little love for Jess.

Ahh, the shot ski.

No, I don't know why Dave's holding a tree.

Ok, now we are ALL wasted.
